He obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting from King Saud University in 1985. Then he joined the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1998 and 1999 to obtain a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). In 1999, he obtained the American Accounting Fellowship Certificate in New Mexico. He also participated in the Executive Development Program (PED) from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) - Lausanne - Switzerland in 2007.
