The performance of the tourism sector in the Kingdom during the first quarter of this year 2023 exceeded unprecedented levels in terms of the number of visitors and the volume of spending.

The growth rate of total domestic tourism spending reached 45%, and the highest quarterly number of tourists from outside Saudi Arabia for all purposes was achieved, estimated at (7.8 million), with a growth rate of 64% compared to the first quarter of 2019.

In the first quarter of this year, visitors for the purpose of entertainment and holidays increased by 581% compared to the first quarter of 2019.

The percentage of tourist visitors from the Gulf countries and the Middle East grew by 107% compared to 2019, while the growth rate in the number of tourists from East Asia reached 49% (especially Indonesia and Malaysia), while the percentage reached 50% for those coming from European countries, especially Turkey, France and Russia. Italy and Germany.

Makkah Al-Mukarramah topped the destinations with 4.4 million visitors, and Riyadh came in second place, Dammam and Al-Khobar, then Jeddah.
